New York, NY, November 15, 2012 - In response to Israel's military efforts to stop the barrage of rockets fired from Gaza, Rabbi Rick Jacobs, president of the Union for Reform Judaism, issued the following statement:
Rabbi Saperstein: "The rockets serve no purpose other than to kill and terrorize innocent Israelis and the ongoing effort to target them must not continue."
Rabbis Jacobs, Saperstein and Stein: "Unfortunately, by calling for hearings only on aid to Israel and not mentioning the aid given by the U.S.
Rabbis Saperstein: "The apparent increase in the frequency of incidents of a destructive and too-often violent nature, perpetrated by Israeli extremists, is cause for great concern."
Rabbis Saperstein and Orkand: "The attack, which left one of the victims unconscious, requiring resuscitation, shames both the attackers and those who failed to stop it."
