WASHINGTON, D.C., March 1, 2009 - In response to this weekend's Kassam rocket attack on an Ashkelon school, Rabbi David Saperstein, Director of the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, issued the following statement:
We are both saddened and troubled by the Kassam rocket attack this weekend that hit an Ashkelon school, injuring two people and destroying classrooms in designated safe zones. While we are relieved that the attack resulted in no loss of life, we are deeply dismayed by terrorists' continued efforts to threaten safety and destroy property in areas frequented by civilians.
We pray for those injured in and affected by the Ashkelon school attack and, as always, for all the people of Israel that safety will be restored in the region and that it may soon see peace.
