WASHINGTON, D.C., Jan. 16, 2009 - Today the 2009 Presidential Inaugural Committee announced that Rabbi David Saperstein, director of the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, will deliver a psalm at the National Prayer Service on Wednesday, January 21st. The official press release of the Presidential Inaugural Committee can be found here.
The National Prayer Service, a tradition dating back to the Inauguration of George Washington, will be held at the National Cathedral at the conclusion of the inaugural activities and will include scripture readings, prayers, hymns and blessings delivered by faith leaders from across the United States.
Saperstein said, "I am profoundly honored to be part of the inaugural activities at such an historic moment in our nation and to take part in this National Prayer Service whose participants represent the distinctly rich pluralistic tapestry of Americas religious traditions."
